1- Type of Program
The undergraduate program of the Ceramics Department is in the form of normal formal education for 4 years. The academic year consists of two semesters, fall and spring. Each semester consists of 15 weeks. An application-oriented module training program is implemented.
2- Language of Instruction in the Program
The language of instruction of the program is Turkish.
3- History of the Program
The Ceramics and Glass Design Department was established in 2005, and the Ceramics Program started its four-year undergraduate education in the 2006-2007 academic year under the leadership of Faculty Member Kaan Canduran. The first graduates of the department were in the 2010-2011 academic year. The department continues its educational activities with a quota of 15 students every year.
4- Purpose of the Program (Mission – Vision)
The main goal of the undergraduate education of the Department of Ceramics and Glass Design is to provide students with an interdisciplinary view of art and the ability to think multi-dimensionally in the field of visual arts. In line with this goal, the aim of our department is to provide students with the competencies defined in the fields of ceramic art and industrial ceramic design, to develop their research and design techniques, artistic thinking and skills, and to enable them to use these competencies in an original way within the framework of artistic, cultural, scientific and social contribution.
5- Program Opportunities
The Department of Ceramics and Glass Design has an innovative and constantly improving education approach in line with the multi-dimensional perspectives of ceramic art such as traditional, contemporary and industrial points of view, with its qualified and dynamic teaching staff members who have national/international recognition in their field. In the ceramic program, a module-oriented curriculum developed in accordance with the requirements of contemporary ceramic art and industrial ceramic art education is applied, in which the ability to understand the basic concepts and language of art together with the historical development of ceramic art is gained. With these modules, course packages have been created in which you can gain qualifications in the fields of artistic and industrial ceramic art according to your aptitude. Our department has physical facilities such as ceramic workshops, chemistry laboratory, plaster workshop, lathe workshop, basic design class, furnace and glazing room, surface design workshop, and various equipment. Computer aided design courses are held in the computer laboratories of our faculty. Theoretical courses are held in the smart classrooms of our faculty. Conferences and presentations are held in the conference halls of our faculty and our exhibitions are held in Zafer Bayburtluoğlu exhibition hall of the faculty. Our department, which aims to improve the quality of ceramic art education and student profile in Türkiye, also uses the advantages of its proximity to Avanos, the traditional pottery center in the Cappadocia region. Workshops held regularly, technical visits to ceramic factories in our region, seminars, exhibitions, participation in symposiums and guest artist invitations are among the social, artistic and academic activities of the department.
6-Social Contribution
In accordance with the objectives of our university and faculty, the management of the processes of planning, implementing, controlling and taking precautions for all the activities carried out in the department is structured by considering the social contribution. Accordingly, the department has adopted the principle of improving its international and national recognition in the field of design, expanding its area of effectiveness, reaching social development goals with applied and theoretical activities in the field of creative arts and culture, taking a more effective role in spreading the goals of service to the public and lifelong education through communication tools in the rapid development and change process of the society, adopting, applying and sustaining the understanding of education and management within the framework of universal, academic and ethical values by making effective and productive collaborations in artistic fields, being open to development based on feedback in mutual interaction with its stakeholders, with its artistic visibility, scientific prestige and innovative activities.
7-Research and Development
The Department of Ceramics and Glass Design primarily supports the research and development activities of academic staff and students in the field of art and scientific research on art, and interdisciplinary studies that will strengthen their original work. In addition to art and science, interdisciplinary collaborations on design and industrial solutions specific to the field of ceramics, project studies and studies to increase the number of qualified publications are among the research and development goals of our department.

• can work in ceramic factories and contribute to the design and production in the ceramic industry.
